The Storm

Darkness looms upon the horizon
Clouds billowing higher
Storms are brewing, gathering strength
An awesome display of Nature's fire
Winds are howling, blowing faster
Rain comes in sheets
Pellets of hail strike the ground
Water floods the streets
A flash of light, a boom of thunder
A terrible bolt of lightning
The lights go out, and all is quiet
What could be more frightening
A sound is heard, growing louder
What could be this noise
Then look to the sky, swirling around
A tornado there is poised
Spinning it's destruction, a deadly path
The fear within your eyes
Take cover quickly, there's no time to waste
As death comes from the skies
The funnel drops down, and shows it's power
All is laid to waste
Houses and lives are soon destroyed
All is out of place
Finally it's over, you look around
Do not feel forlorn
Thank the Lord you are alive
And have survived the storm
