The Poetry of Sylvan Shadowolf

Nightmare

Seeing nothing as my mind wanders an empty dreamscape
The utter blackness almost tangible to the touch
I feel an icy deathlike chill as I walk blindly towards nothingness
When fingers rent of flesh touch my shoulder

A scream, caught in my throat. No sound escapes parted lips
As I'm turned to stare into eyes of blue flame
Seeing reflections of macabre designs set upon an immaterial plane
Filling my soul with dread, I can taste my fear

I'm confronted with a ghastly grimace as a putrid stench overwhelms
Hideous teeth gnash scissor-like at my veins
A howl of torturous sound assaults my hearing
Wicked teeth sink deeply into mortal flesh

I scream again, this time the sound gurgling with the blood in my throat
The black creature enlivened with my cries
My life-force flooding down my body into a sickly warm pool at my feet
Darkness consumes, my soul devoured

I lay in a cold, lifeless heap, eyes staring wide into nothingness
Soulless body begins its decay
The creature sated with blood, and my soul in its possession
Nightmares begin with death
