My Love's Return

How long has it been since I looked upon your face
Gone so long you have been, I lost count of the days
I await now your return, my heart is all a-flutter
To me you are the one, there can be no other
The time for your arrival, now so close at hand
Waiting and watching, how will I ever stand
The anticipation, the hope, my thoughts are overrun
For once again to hold you, to kiss beneath the sun
Nearer and nearer, each minute seems to be
To take twice an eternity, to bring you close to me
Now, yes now, I see the method of your arrival
Blessed steel chariot comes to ensure my survival
Slowly, so slowly, as you tease before you stop
Opening the door you see me, I smile, and tarry not
I rush to you open armed, to welcome your embrace
With the rush of love outpouring, I look upon your face
