Enchanted Dream

I turn down the covers and get ready for bed
And what should I hear sounding in my head?
A sweet, magickal song to welcome my slumber
Whispered to me softly, so my hearts unencumbered
A quiet melody, like wind through the trees
Or a gentle rain, pitter-pattering with ease
Moonlight beamed with Her pale, cool light
Sending me dreams to enchant my night
I drift off to sleep, my mind still echoing the sounds
And so my dreams take me to a magickal realm
I hear the song again, but this time more clearly
I look around, but no one is near me
Then through the trees I see many lights glowing
Like sparkling stars with their radiance showing
The lights begin to move in a slow spiral dance
Spinning around me, and singing their chant
The lights move closer, soon I'm encircled
Surrounded in colors of green, blue, and purple
I feel myself lifted, as I'm carried with ease
Into a clearing through a break in the trees
I'm set down on my feet, and the lights disappear
My mind full of wonder, but not a touch of fear
I saw there before me just a few yards away
Something I'll never forget till the end of my days
A magickal court, the Queen of the Elves
Of music and merriment, all were under its spell
A grand table arrayed with delights unsurpassed
I stood in awe, my heart beating fast
The Queen looked my way and beckoned me closer
With a bit of a tremble I made my way over
When I was standing but a few feet away
I bowed to the slowly, and then heard her say
"Arise, kind Sir, for there is no need,
We are all equals, though I may be Queen,
I ask for your respect, by your deeds it's been shown
So tonight you are welcome to be one of our own."
"Milady," I replied, "you are truly a Queen,
And whether this is real or some part of a dream,
I thank you kindly, and so by your words,
I shall join in the reverie, of which legends I've heard!"
The Queen smiled to me and bid me be merry
I took my leave, and then did not tarry
Feasting and singing, dancing and wine
The Fair Folk welcomed me as one of their kind
Too soon it was time when we had to part
Such a magickal night, it had renewed my heart
I said my farewells, and thanked them each one
The Queen said fear not, for this night shan't be undone:
"Do not worry, you will remember it well,
It will lift your spirits, and a secret I'll tell,
Now you are changed, this night was the spell,
Love and light in your heart, for forever until!"
