Cautionary Tale

I open my eyes to the pain of the light
I cannot believe how much I drank last night
How many beers I sometimes wonder
Did I put away before the table I'm under
Now I must deal with the results of my ways
Hung over again and I must deal with the day
I crawl out of bed still hugging the floor
It's so many feet to the bathroom door
My eyes will not focus, my head keeps spinning
Dehydrated and sick, it's only the beginning
As I take solace in the porcelain throne
I still can't remember how I got home!!
