Cinderella

Listen, my friends
A story told
About a maiden
Beautiful and bold
She was born alone
An orphaned lass
And became a princess
Through a slipper of glass
This is her story
Told in rhyme
Cinderella
Once upon a time...

A beautiful maiden
Maid to suffer
By wicked step-sisters
And cruel step mother
A thousand chores
Day after day
She cleaned and served
And barely complained
Then one afternoon
One of the King's court came calling
A grand ball to be held
To end the Prince's stalling
For on this night
He would choose his wife
And he would marry her
On that very night
The step-sisters squealed
And hurried away
To primp and prime
For their selfish display
Cinderella sighed
For she wanted to go
But what could she wear
To that kind of a show
Then later as she slept
A sound was heard
Her fairy god-mother
Arrived with a surge
Awoke with a start
And a bit of surprise
Wondering what happened
Not believing her eyes
Spells were cast
To assist her desire
From mundane to magick
She was attired
Mice became horses
A pumpkin her carriage
So she set off
To seek her marriage
But one warning she forgot
As she sped away
At midnight she'll return
Back to the mundane
She arrived at the ball
And all eyes observed
Cinderella the common
In the finery she deserved
The Prince was amazed
He knew she would be his wife
And they would marry
On this very night
But then the clock
Tolled midnight's chime
And Cinderella remembered
She was out of time
So she ran off
Quickly she dashed
For her time was up
And the spell wouldn't last
As she ran
Quickly away
She lost one slipper
Of glass it was made
The next morning
The Prince went to discover
The foot that matched
And so find his lover
When he came to the house
Cinderella hid
And the step sisters tried
To make the shoe fit
Then from out of the shadows
Cinderella emerged
To try on the slipper
The sisters thought her absurd
Then to their dismay
The shoe fit quite well
Perfect in fact
They were angry as hell
Then Prince then knew he had found his wife
And they lived happily ever after
For the rest of their lives
