A Faerie Tale

Walking through the forest on a hot summers day
Damp and humid, can't keep the mosquitoes at bay
My water has run out, I feel I'm about to collapse
My feet can't carry me, not much longer I will last
Then I hear something, a sweet delightful sound
I look up ahead to see what I've found
The trees begin to clear, a gentle breeze blows
A forest oasis! - To the cool water I go
I eagerly jump in, the water is so refreshing
I leisurely swim, and count my blessings
For this oasis is not on any map
I look around and wonder where I'm at
This place is surreal, somehow not of this Earth
So peaceful and quiet, yet full of joy and mirth
I have an idea, but to think it I'm wary
Could I somehow have traveled to the land of Faerie?
I look for a clue to see if I am right
All looks normal, it's what I feel inside
It's like the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders
A warm feeling inside, and feeling I'll never grow colder
I climb out from the water, take my clothes off to dry
Then I hear a giggle and look for a place to hide!
I jump back into the water, for it's my only cover
Then look back to the bank to see who has discovered
A beautiful woman, there holding my clothes
A smile on her face, my embarrassment shows
She sets down my clothes, and kindly turns away
Now I am dressed, but I don't know what to say
I try to speak, though all I do is stutter
Who is this woman? My heart is all a-flutter
The most beautiful woman I ever have seen
This can't be reality, it must be a dream
My thoughts she reads, or perhaps my demeanor
And speaks to me softly, about why I have seen her
"You are not dreaming, this land is real.
I brought you here, for I know how you feel"
"You seem out of place in the world of your own.
A different spirit and your kindness is known.
So if you desire, you may stay here with me.
Yes, you are right, I've brought you to Faerie."
In the world I live in, I am out of place
I never was one only out to win the race
So I've spent many hours walking through the forest alone
But now I see... I may have finally found a home
